Not So Blank Spaces
March 17, 2010 | Filed Under Wandering | 5 Comments
I went for a walk last night in effort to see what I could photograph in what I would normally consider blank spaces. It ended up being an exploration shapes and lines. I know the car shot doesn’t follow those lines per say. Think I should delete it? Let me know via the comment section.

The Swarm
March 17, 2010 | Filed Under Sports | 10 Comments

On March 14th I had the chance to photograph my good friend Andrea Kucherawy’s first football game of the year with her team the Swarm. It ended up pouring rain the whole time which only added to my admiration of these weekend warriors who play for the pure love of the game. I can’t quite remember the final score but it was a win for the Swarm who averaged close to 10 years of age over the opposing Barracudas; or at least that point was regularly shouted as encouragement from the sidelines! I’m looking forward to photographing this dedicated group again in the future.
Finally the leading image from this post was used as my Photo of the Week on Photographer Network. Go check out the network to see weekly photos from myself and the four other talented photographers who are part of the web site.

Hockey Euphoria in Victoria
March 2, 2010 | Filed Under Event | 1 Comment

I had thought of going back to Vancouver to experience the last day of the 2010 Olympics but opted to see what happened here. Pure spontaneous joy is all I can think of to describe the several hours of street partying that followed Canada’s gold metal win in men’s hockey. Jenna and I had only one camera with us so it was an interesting exercise to share a camera in a situation where we would normally both be shooting our faces off at the same time.
Jenna also has pictures up from Victoria’s spontaneous street celebration on her blog.

Vancouver 2010 Olympics

On February 22 & 23 Jenna and I went to Vancouver to photograph and feel the Olympics for a few days. It was such and overwhelmingly positive experience I will never forget.
You can see Jenna’s photos from the same two days over on her photography blog.
The image of Jenna below was from the moment just after Canadian skaters Virtue & Moir won the gold medal in ice dancing. All around us there were people watching their final skate projected onto a wall. People were standing, leaning on fences and pausing on the sidewalk. When Virtue & Moir won you could hear cheers erupting across the city from block to block. One of my most memorable moments from our two days in Vancouver.
